Abstract:
Hydrophobic catalyst is used as some reactions in which one of reagents, products, or reaction medium is water, including hydrogen-water liquid catalytic exchange, recombination of H
2-O
2, oxidation of organic compounds at low temperature, selective catalytic reduction of NO
x, removal of NH
3 in wastewater, et al. Applications progress of hydrophobic catalyst was reviewed in all fields, then its catalytic characters and some questions of applications were discussed. The reactions are carried through at room temperature or slightly above room temperature and have low energy consumption. Hydrophobic catalysis has higher selectivity than hydrophilic catalysis for some reactions. The preparation methods of catalyst are similar to those of hydrogen-water liquid catalytic exchange reaction in all reactions. They are favorable for wide applications of hydrophobic catalyst in industry, to study hydrophobic catalyst preparation methods and enhance catalytic activity to specific reaction.
