Abstract:
In order to investigate the agreement and difference of four different Monte-Carlo codes FLUKA, GEANT4 and EGS (EGS4 and EGS5 version), Crannell shower experiment model was used as a benchmark and the results from four codes were compared with experiment results. The particle transportation process when a 1 GeV electron beam hit an aluminum column target was simulated respectively with four codes. The energy deposition depth curves in different radial ranges were obtained. The comparison shows that the curves obtained with four codes agree with each other and conform the experiment results, and the result of GEANT4 has a slightly bigger difference. However, the difference of the calculation time is big. It may be due to the different methods in the electron transport simulation.
