ZnO(In)闪烁体在α粒子辐照下的发光特性

Scintillation Properties of ZnO(In) Crystals Under α-particle Irradiation

  • 摘要: 采用241Am-α源研究了ZnO(In)样品(购自美国Cermet Inc.公司)的发光和表面光输出特性、α粒子能谱响应和单脉冲时间响应,同时对EJ212、BC418、ST401、CeF3等闪烁体进行了比较测量。实验发现,ZnO(In)样品在α粒子轰击下,两表面的光输出相差3~5倍,显示出表面不同的光学性质。测试结果表明,ZnO(In)晶体对α粒子的能谱响应波形光滑,发光效率仅次于有机闪烁体,对单粒子脉冲时间响应快,是超快脉冲射线束探测较理想的闪烁元件。

     

    Abstract: To determine the radiationdetection performance of ZnO(In) samples for the use in the pulsed charged particle and neutron beam measurements, an 241Am-α source was used to irradiate five ZnO(In) samples from Cermet Inc. and EJ212, BC418, ST401, CeF3 scintillators. The α-particle spectra and pulsed time response waveforms obtained from the measurement indicate that the ZnO(In) single-crystal is a promising scintillator with relatively high light output and fast timing characteristic. And the luminosity from film side excited by same α source is 3-5 times of that from the substrate side in all the samples, showing directional luminescence under α-particle-excitation. The experimental results show that ZnO(In) is one of the highly desirable candidate scintillations for ultrafast pulsed radiation detection.
