A Counter Array for Imaging Particle Spectrometer

  • 摘要: 为满足目前磁层物理研究的需要,先进的粒子探测器需获得粒子能谱的三维分布。设计一种可用于多方向空间带电粒子的能谱测量的计数器阵列。该计数器阵列用1个4K×8位的双口RAM实现了拥有2 048个通道的16位计数器阵列。目前,已完成原型设计,并利用精密脉冲信号源和放射源进行了性能测试。测试结果表明,该计数器阵列性能良好,具有尺寸小、功耗低、灵活性高等特点。

     

    Abstract: Advanced particle detector in space applications should obtain the spectrum in 3D distribution of energetic particles, which is required in the current researches of magnetospheric physics. The counter array (CA) is an important part to count the energetic particle in channels more than a thousand. The CA uses a dual-port RAM with 8 bit data port to form a 16 bit count array of 2 048 channels by splitting one counting cycle in two. A prototype of the CA was constructed, and tested with a precision pulse generator and a 207Bi radioactive source. The results show that it is small in size, and has low power consumption, high flexibility and good performances.
