Abstract:
PARCS advanced thermal-hydraulic solver (PATHS) was developed to solve the steady state thermal-hydraulic (T-H) condition of BWR. The Verification and Validation (V&V) of the standalone PATHS code had been completed by comparing with the results of the RELAP5 code. PATHS was then coupled with the PARCS code to provide T-H feedback for steady state and depletion calculations. The V&V of the PATHS/PARCS was also completed via a SMART reactor calculation and the Peach Bottom 2 OECD Turbine Trip benchmark. The results of the coupled calculations conclude that the PARCS/PATHS coupled code is able to perform the steady-state calculation for BWR correctly and effectively.
