Abstract:
Polycarbosilane (PCS) precursor fibers were irradiated by γ-ray in air atmosphere. The weight gain characteristic of the PCS precursor fiber was studied by gel content,IR, NMR, GPC and theoretical calculation. The results show that the weight gain is about 25.4% and the bond of Si—H reaction degree is 86.9% at the absorbed dose of 4 MGy. The Si—H reaction degree and weight gain show a good linear relationship,
R2=0.9972. The structures of Si—OH, Si—O—Si, Si—O—C and C=O are formed by means of reaction between oxygen and PCS, and this cause the PCS precursor fibers to gain weigh. The theoretical calculation shows that the C=O formed from the reaction of C—H bond in the Si—CH
3 with oxygen is the main source of weight gain.
