Development of 800 kV/30 mA Cockcroft-Walton Electron Accelerator for Radiation Application

  • 摘要: 本文介绍了一台由工频驱动并采用气体绝缘变压器的对称Cockcroft-Walton型800 kV/30 mA高压电子加速器的研制和调试。气体绝缘变压器和倍加回路均置于SF6压力钢筒内,相对于一般采用的油变,简化了馈电,缩减了整个设备的体积;采用工频供电,无需专门的前级驱动电源;电子枪供电通过专设的一组隔离变压器实现。经调试和改进,该加速器空载电压可达860 kV以上,700 kV下已完成大于30 mA的稳定出束,能量转换效率可达90%。该加速器有望成为1 MV以下的辐照实用机型。

     

    Abstract: The development of an 800 kV/30 mA DC electron accelerator based on a symmetrical Cockcroft-Walton cascade circuit driven by line frequency with two gas insulated step-up transformers was introduced. In such an arrangement, the transformers, instead of oil insulated ones, can be directly housed in the same SF6 pressure vessel as the cascade circuit, which yields an accelerator footprint as small and electric feedthrough as simple as possible. Four special-design isolation transformers were connected in series between the ground and HV to power the electron gun. In the tests after improvements, the machine can be conditioned to 860 kV with non-load, 700 kV/30 mA stable operations have been demonstrated several times, and an electrical efficiency of around 90% appears very promising for it to be developed as a good alternative for industrial electron accelerators below 1 MV.
