Abstract:
Since 2007, a compact cyclotron with internal ion source has been developed in Institute of Fluid Physics, China Academy of Engineering Physics for the production of short lived PET isotopes. The designed energy of the cyclotron’s extracted proton beam is 11 MeV, and the designed current is 50 μA. In this work, the commissioning of the magnet, the RF cavity, the ion source and the full machine were presented. The integral phase shift of the magnetic field is ±9°. The measured
Q value is about 60% of the theoretical value. The intensity of the H
- ion beam after one turn of acceleration in the central region is 100-160 μA. The designed parameters of extracted proton beam are achieved. Using the extracted proton beam to produce
18F, a yield of 6.49 GBq (1.77 Ci) is achieved.
