Abstract:
To develop a type of scintillation detector for space charged particle radiation with particle discriminating ability, the decay time curve of CsI(Na) film irradiated with proton, Li and O ions was measured using the single photon counting method. Combining with the waveform of CsI(Na) excited by pulsed X-ray, it is found that CsI(Na) films show totally different time response to proton, heavy ions and electrons. High energy electrons, proton and heavy charged particles can be discriminated by their pulse shapes measured by scintillation detector in current counting mode. Therefore it lays a foundation for applying this kind of detector to discriminating signal waveform of space radiation detection.
