Abstract:
The age of the universe is the basic parameter of the universe model. The accurate measurement of it can help people to understand the origin, structure and evolution of the universe and the nature of dark matter and dark energy. The three popular astrophysical methods and the recent progress in dating the age of the universe were reviewed. With the development of science and technology, the understanding of the age of the universe is gradually to be consistent. That is, the universe was born in the Big Bang of 13.8 billion years ago. Some important data in nuclear astrophysics are the key constrains on the age of the universe, and thus require study carefully to reduce the determination uncertainty. There are still 5% differences in the measurement of cosmological constants, and the further understanding of it may give birth to major breakthroughs in the field of cosmology.
