Abstract:
The Beijing radioactive ion beam facility (BRIF) isotope separator on-line (BRISOL) is a radioactive ion beam facility based on a 100 MeV@200 μA cyclotron. The radioactive ion beams are produced by bombarding the thick target with proton beam provided by cyclotron. The mass resolution of the BRISOL is better than 20 000. The MgO target was developed to fulfill the requirements of the study of the exotic decay mode of
20Na. The sodium isotope ion beams of
20-26Na
+ were produced by bombarding MgO target with 100 MeV proton beam. The maximum production of the
20Na
+ beam is 2×10
5 s
-1 and the maximum production of the
21Na
+ beam is 4×10
8 s
-1 when the proton beam intensity is 8 μA. The first physics experiment of BRIF was carried out and the total beam time for this experiment was about 200 h.
