Abstract:
In order to study the fuel management performance of liquid molten salt thermal reactor, there are three challenges needed to be solved that are homogenization of complex core structure, mixing of fuel salt and online fuel reprocessing. Based on DRAGON5 and DONJON5 codes, a liquid molten salt thermal reactor fuel management code LMSR was developed and verified. Liquid molten salt thermal reactor was calculated and analyzed by using LMSR. The results show that when
235U and
238U are used to start the reactor and
232Th and
233U are used as feeding fuel, the extraction efficiency of heavy metal is at least 90%. In addition, in order to maintain the core effective multiplication factor between 1.0-1.005, the average equivalent mass enrichment of 233U in the feeding fuel is about 40%.
