Abstract:
Neutron radiation damage in nuclear materials is one of key issues affecting the safety and stability of nuclear energy devices. Due to difficulties in conducting numerous neutron irradiation experiments of nuclear materials to evaluate their damage mechanisms, relevant theoretical simulations are crucial. With no restriction in space and time scales, meso-scale cluster dynamics (CD) is an effective approach to study the long-term dynamic evolution of radiation damage in materials. In this review, an overview of the model, numerical algorithms and latest progress of CD was given, a series of applications of CD were highlighted for typical issues in nuclear materials under neutron irradiation and future development of CD was also prospected.
