Abstract:
In order to get the best image quality and make the female patient receive the minimum dose, the optimization of the exposure parameter in digital mammography was studied for Hologic Lorad Selenia digital mammography device. The breast phantom with different thicknesses and glandular contents were exposed by different tube voltages and target/filter combinations to get the images. These images were processed to calculate the contrast noise ratio (CNR), which was used to characterize the image quality. The mean glandular dose (MGD) to the patient undergoing digital mammography was estimated with MGD conversion coefficient suitable for Chinese women. The relationship between the MGD and exposure parameter under the condition of similar image quality was studied to find out the suggested exposure parameter in digital mammography suitable for Chinese women. The results of this study provide reference for optimizing exposure parameter of digital mammography.
